What to Expect and How to Prepare


Eye Vision Exams or eye sight tests are for everyone! Lots of people believe that you should only get a test when you feel you might have problems.  That is not the case! It is important to get eyesight tests periodically throughout your life. These test can offer some insight into you eye health as well as act as a preventative measure for future issues.  

Who Needs Eye-Sight Tests?


  • Kids: The first eye exam should tak place at 6 months. The next should be at age 3 and then before they start school. Doing this ensures that your child is ready and on track with the children around him
  • Adults: By 18, most people should get exams every 2 years. This helps you know of any issues that might arise. 
  • Other: Children born with low birth weight, people who have a history of eye disease in their family, and finally if you are prescribed eye glasses early in life you should visit the doctor once a year to be sure you prescription is up to date.

What to Expect?


  • Medical History: Dr. Kroger will review a brief history of your medical past. 
  • External Exam: Visually inspecting the exterior parts of the eye.
  • Visual Acuity Test: This test is the you think of when you think "eye doctor". It involves reading letters off of a chart while Dr. Kroger uses lenses to see which provide the clearest view
  • Alignment Test: Making sure your eyes are working together. You will cover one eye, look at a fixed point and Dr. Kroger will determine how your eyes react. 
  • Pupil Response Test: This test will make sure your pupils respond appropriately when affected by light.
